About Us

Dave Nocera

I'm a storyteller who spent 34 years building systems that had to work—and now I'm building worlds that make you think.

As a retired senior computer scientist with five U.S. patents, I've had the privilege of architecting infrastructure for AT&T's consumer operations (managing $30M+ budgets), founding Verifici and growing it to 35 employees, and creating software that Fortune 500 companies like CME, Verizon, and Lehman Brothers licensed for millions. As CTO of Innovative Systems Design, I helped drive a $100M hardware acquisition. AT&T promoted me to Distinguished MTS faster than anyone in company history—but honestly, the work I'm most proud of is  what I'm doing now.

I worked 40+ jobs to put myself through Kean College (Summa Cum Laude, Computer Science, 1984). I became a Unix kernel expert the hard way: by reading the code until I understood it. Later, I taught myself quantum computing for the same reason I learned everything else—curiosity wouldn't let me sleep.

For 10 years, I mentored two FIRST Robotics teams: Team 1279 at Immaculata High School and Team 4281 at The Center School—the only special needs team in the program. Watching those kids problem-solve under pressure taught me more about innovation than any patent ever did.

Science fiction shaped how I think. Now I'm giving back. My debut novel challenges what it means to be alive—using thermodynamics, not biology, as the lens. If you've ever wondered whether life is chemistry or something deeper, we should talk.

I'm here to connect with readers, writers, scientists, and anyone who believes the best stories ask uncomfortable questions.
